1. The most obvious, they take all the money generated from the ad space directly. Having full control over the ad space, authors can even sell space within their articles privately.

The main business model of any article directory or “group content” site relies mainly on the revenue from ad space. Many sites are willing to share this revenue with the authors, but only one site (that I know of) gives full control over the ad space to the author… And ALL the revenue!
